Tata Motors unveiled the Nexon Concept at the 2014 Auto Expo, while a near production version of the sub-compact SUV was showcased at last year’s 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Finally, after over a year, Tata Motors is all set to launch the Tata Nexon in India on 21th September 2017. Ahead of its launch, the company has started accepting bookings for the compact SUV at INR 11,000. Internally code-named as ‘Osprey’, the Nexon is based on the X1 platform, which also underpins the Tata Bolt and Tata Zest. The compact SUV is based on the IMPACT Design philosophy and becomes the fourth offering from the car maker after the Tata Hexa, Tiago and the Tata Tigor. The Nexon Geneva Edition was recently showcased at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show alongside the Tigor Styleback.

Irrespective of following the exact design cues from the concept vehicle, its contemporary and elegant appearance makes the baby SUV look modern and fresh. Some of its design bits seem to have also been inspired from Tata’s new age vehicles such as the Tiago, Bolt and the Zest. With an aggressive stance up front, it is embellished with lots of chrome for that adds extra bling to it.
The front for that matter caters to a piano black grille with integrated sleek headlamps on either sides that are expected to be LEDs along with daytime running lamps and the company’s insignia draped in chrome located in centre lends it a strong appeal to lure young customers. Rest the roofline bends sharply towards the rear which makes it look like a coupe merged with Tata’s signatory functionality and strength. Engineers at Tata Motors have worked equally hard in making the tail gate an interesting proposition. Thus it features conical shaped tail lights which seems to be created immaculately. It rides on 16-inch multi spoke alloy wheels.
