2017 Ford EcoSport Facelift

The 2017 Ford EcoSport has been unveiled for India and Carandbike.com exclusively brought you the first look of the all-new subcompact SUV. The model has been on sale in 2013 and really kick-started the subcompact SUV segment boom. However, the competition is newer and more loaded as well on the feature front and the EcoSport facelift aims to put up a tougher fight against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V and Mahindra TUV300. With the launch slated for sometime in November this year, here's all you need to know about the 2017 Ford EcoSport.

Ford India is gearing up to launch the much-awaited 2017 EcoSport facelift on November 9, 2017. In fact, certain dealers have begun accepting pre-orders for the car. Official bookings for the new Ford EcoSport 2017 are expected to commence very soon. While the launch of the vehicle is a few days away, its engine details have been revealed by the company. The facelifted model receives significant styling updates, several segment leading features and an all-new engine.
Exterior design and styling changes give the new EcoSport a refreshing look. The single-piece trapezoidal chrome grille with two horizontal slats seems inspired by the Endeavour. Face of the car is further accentuated with angular headlamps, daytime running lights, bigger fog lamps, revised bumper and slightly pronounced hood. Save for the new alloy design and revised roof rails, the side profile of the car remains unchanged. The top-spec variant is exclusively offered with larger 17-inch wheels instead of 16-inch units. Unlike the global model, the India-spec 2017 Ford EcoSport is continued to feature the tailgate mounted spare wheel. Read – Tata Nexon Vs Ford EcoSport
Interior has also been updated significantly. The car gets a new dashboard design and centre console layout. It features a new SYNC 3 infotainment system with a new floating 8-inch touchscreen display (only on the top-spec model) and smartphone connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, it also sports a navigation system, voice recognition and other applications. The base variant continues to use a 2-DIN audio system with integrated 6.5-inch touchscreen display.
Besides, the 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift is equipped with a new instrument cluster, new steering wheel and dashboard grab bar. Other bits such as horizontal central HVAC vents, automatic climate control, a three-spoke steering wheel etc are also on offer. While the base variant of the 2017 Ford EcoSport come with dual airbags and ABS (anti-lock braking system), the range-topping model gets  6 airbags along with a range of safety features such as Ford’s Emergency Assistance system, a rear-view camera, cruise control and a speed limited function.Read: New EcoSport Vs Old – What is the difference?
Ford revealed the engine details of the new Ford EcoSport facelift early this month. The 2017 Ford EcoSport uses an all-new 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, Ti-VCT petrol engine (Internally known as Dragon engine). This naturally aspirated unit will come as replacement to the existing 1.5-litre, four-cylinder Ti-VCT petrol unit. With several new technologies, the new 1.5-litre petrol engine is claimed to be lighter, stronger and more fuel efficient than its replacement. This gasoline unit is claimed to return 121.3bhp of maximum power and 150Nm of torque, which is also the best-in-class. Other engine options will include the same 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol and a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an all-new 6-speed automatic unit.

The Indian compact SUV segment has been witnessing surge in demand and car makers have been rolling out new models to benefit from the sharp rise in demand. First launched in 2013, EcoSport is among the top-selling models in this space, however launch of new models such as Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon has turned heat on EcoSport, hence the facelift makes sense to retain its position. Therefore, the Amercian carmaker aims to achieve competitively pricing.
Keeping its commitment of ‘Making in India, for India and the world’, the company will produce the new 1.5L petrol engine at its Sanand-based facility in Gujarat. This will further help it come up with aggressive pricing. With comprehensive design and feature updates, the new EcoSport model could be slightly more expensive than the current model. That said, the price of the 2017 EcoSport might start from Rs 7.50 lakh for the entry-level variant, and go up to Rs 10.50 lakh for the top-spec model. Read – First Spy Pictures of 2018 Ford Endeavour Are Out
